REPORTS TO: Residential Services Manager

➢ Six (6) months of previous experience working with people with disabilities preferred

➢ As applicable, must possess a valid driver's license, good driving record and liability car insurance as defined by Destination Health Care Services Agency

➢ Must satisfactorily complete computerized state required training, first aid/CPR and Medication Administration Training Certifications as required by regulations.

➢ Must be able to pass a background checks as defined by regulations and policies.

➢ Ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Ability to do daily standing, bending, and lifting

RESPONSIBILITIES of the Direct Support Professionals

This position is responsible for providing direct support, positive direction, and assistance to individuals in accordance with program policies and procedures; and personal outcome measures.

• Provides supports to people served by assisting in the development and implementation of all Support Plans, including spiritual life supports, assisting people in achieving their personal goals and desires, providing interaction and choices for activities that support a meaningful day, and supporting people to be independent in activities of daily living skills including personal care, cooking, cleaning, and other living skills as stated in the person’s individual support plan.

• Assists with information gathering for Personal Outcome Measures, and other assessments;

• Assists people with maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly home by following safety and infection control procedures; educates people about maintaining homes;

• Maintains and expands skills and knowledge relevant to providing high quality support and services. Obtains and maintains all required certifications and trainings and applies the information to support people served;

• Maintains open communication and cooperative work effort with Lead DSP and other staff to assure quality and continuity of support to people served

• Supports the Destination Health Care Services Mission, Vision, and Core Values while empowering each person to direct their own life choices;

• Reports and/or documents routine and unusual events including completing daily logs, incident reports, outcome data sheets, etc. in a concise, understandable, and legible manner;

• Assists people with fiscal management while safeguarding their funds. This may include completing ledgers, reconciling accounts and assisting people with spending choices;

• Ensures that people exercise their rights and that rights are not restricted without due process, ensures people are treated with dignity and respect;

• Performs other duties as assigned

Must possess a commitment to the belief that all people have the right to dignity, respect, opportunity and full community inclusion. Interest in assisting people supported to achieve personal outcomes and to provide person centered supports. Must possess good verbal, reading, and written communication in English; basic math skills; and basic computer skills. Ability and willingness to successfully complete and apply training. Must be flexible with respect to hours of work and changing conditions; be of good moral character; have an interest in the welfare of the individuals; have training and/or interest in the field of developmental disabilities; and have a willingness/ability to communicate with and relate to individuals, parents, guardians, fellow-staff, representatives of community agencies, and company management. As a direct support professional, you may be called upon to support someone you serve by assisting them with praying, reading appropriate religious and devotional materials with them, or companioning with them in worship, Bible study, or other religious events and practices that they find meaningful and enjoy. OB SUMMARY: The accounting clerk manages personal funds for people supported by the organization; assists with payroll maintaining, vendor accounts and processing procurement requests for goods and services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 18 years of age

Experience with computer software programs for accounting Possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting and bookkeeping Must satisfactorily complete computerized state required training and other training as required by regulations.

Must be able to pass background and other checks as defined by regulations and policies. Ability

to do daily standing, bending, lifting, walking.

EDUCATION: Associate degree in business administration with accounting focus required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: At least 2 years of experience as an accounting clerk or bookkeeper, experience working with financials for the developmentally disabled population in a community residential setting preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintaining and promoting excellent relations with external entities such SSA

• Establish representative payee status with SSA/SSI

• Verifying claims and processing orders and deposit slips

• Obtaining authorized signatures for checks and other payments of purchases for people supported

EQUIPMENT: Computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, Microsoft Office Suite

JUDGMENT/INITIATIVE: Must be capable of functioning independently with minimal supervision. Must exercise excellent judgment in the implementation of agency policy. Must be detail oriented, have excellent follow up skills and be a great multitasker.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must communicate well in English both orally and in writing with all levels of staff, individuals, and other persons.

EXPERIENCE: Must be 18 years or older with knowledge of state of Tennessee DIDD rules and regulations; a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Direct Support Professional for people with IDD. Experience in a community residential setting preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills required for ongoing communication with people supported, agency staff and community agencies.

• Assists RN and professional staff in delivering quality nursing services to persons supported.

• Administers specified medications. Removes expired medications from circulation and access.

• Takes historical information and records persons' supported vital signs.

• Observes person's supported mannerisms and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment as needed.

• Advocates for individuals with IDD

• Participates as an intricate part of the interdisciplinary team for the people we support
